A mint pristine cased Iron Cross 1st Class manufactured by Steinhauer & Lück and maker numbered '4', complete with outer packaging

A beautiful mint pristine condition example of the Iron Cross 1st Class. The Cross retains its frosted silver beading and polished silver edge frame. The black centre has survived in perfect condition and has a beautifully polished swastika and 1939 date. The background paint shows just the slightest age lines. Reverse has the frosted back with polished flat tapered pin bearing maker number '4'. The case has survived in mint pristine condition with a fine black finish and deeply impressed silver blocked Iron Cross. Interior has a fresh unmarked beige velvet base and white silk roof. The orange-brown cardboard outer packaging is fully printed to the obverse, and bears the Steinhauer & Lück makers name and address to the side. The cardboard packaging is in close to mint condition with just the lightest wear at the point the flap opens. Rare to find any Iron Cross in this condition with case and outer packaging.If a collector wanted one definitive example of an Iron Cross 1st Class, this would undoubtedly be the example to buy. It is rare indeed to find an original example of cased screwback Iron Cross First Class, but it is virtually impossible to find one even complete with its original LDO declaration paper. The iron Cross has survived in excellent condition with 100% black finishing and nicely polished silver frame. Reverse bears the screwback with fluted centre rib, and the maker's LDO number L/16 stamped to the base of the Cross. The case is in excellent condition has has the LDO logo blocked in gold to the roof. The original declaration paper is in black with a brown LDO logo printed to the background. A beautiful and rare example for anyone collecting Iron Cross variants.

A beautiful original example of the cased screwback Iron Cross First Class. The iron Cross has survived in near mint condition with 100% black finishing and nicely polished silver frame. Reverse bears the screwback with fluted centre rib, and the maker's LDO number L/56 stamped to the screwback. The case is in excellent condition has has the LDO logo blocked in gold to the roof. Very hard to find examples of the cased screwback Iron Cross on the open market.

A fine condition example of the Iron Cross First Class. The Cross retains a nicely polished silver edge frame and beading, which has a pleasant overall patina. The black centre has survived in perfect condition with typical age lines within the black paint. The reverse has the flat tapered pin and the back section is engraved 'Ofw Huber 1./Pz.Gr.Rgt.93' (Oberfeldwebel Huber, 1st Company, Panzer-Grenadier Regt.93). The case has survived in close to mint condition with a black grained appearance and silver Iron Cross emblem. A very nice personalised example of an Iron Cross First Class.

Extremely rare Iron Cross 1914-18 1st Class / 1939 Bar Combination by Steinhauer & Lück

Stunning condition with frosted beeding and polished outer frame, along with frosted bar with polished highlights. 100% original satin black finish remaining. The reverse bears a 100% frosted silver finish identical to both the bar and cross with light patination to the edges. The vertical flat tapered pin assembly bears the manufacture code '4'. This particular example is identical in manufacture type to the example shown in the publication, Führer and Fatherland (Military Awards) page 347. This version of the combination has a bar devoid of any back fixing, and without any signs of a fixing having been removed. Simply beautiful !

Reverse has the central female extension to take the convexed 'screwback' disc, and the top tunic locate pin. The reverse also has the L/13 maker code nice and clearly impressed at the base..

Extremely rare matching set of Luftwaffe plaque and matching citation. The blackened metal plaque is in mint pristine condition and bears the Luftwaffe eagle/swastika in light relief, at the base is the designers initialed logo. The reverse bears the top wall hanging bar and the manufacturers logo. The citation is dated October 1941 and shows the award has been given to Flieger Obering Braun. Excellent ink signature of Generalfeldmarshall Kesselring to the bottom along with the eagle/swastika ink hand stamp. Citation has slight aging and small tear at right hand side.
